In 2011, I started working under these two amazing

In 2011, I started working under these two amazing administrators who saw something in me that I hadn’t seen for myself. Who wouldn’t allow me to settle, but instead pushed me to reach far beyond my wildest dreams.

14 years later, these two amazing (now retired!) administrators came out to celebrate my book with me. The book that is dedicated to them by name. Because without them, there would be none of this.

And I will never have enough words to thank them 💜💛

One year, I received several gifts for teacher appreciation week. Another year? Nothing. What was the difference between those years? Nothing that had to do with my ability as a teacher. There are so many factors that contribute to getting gifts or not. So please do not compare your week to someone else’s.

What’s the teacher personality type where your files are METICULOUS but the rest of the room is…. A work in progress 🤣🤦🏻‍♀️ Because that’s definitely me. When it comes to special education, the paperwork is never ending, but this filing system (because yes we still have to have hard copies) has been my GO TO for the better part of a decade.

Lots of new faces around here since my book launch

Lots of new faces around here since my book launched, so I thought I’d take some time to introduce myself and share a few fun facts about the person behind the account! Do we have anything in common? Let me know in the comments!!

1️⃣ I have been in the special education world since 2011 and taught everything from kindergarten resource to the 18-21 year old multi disability transition class!

2️⃣ My husband is also a teacher! We have been married 15 years this June and our daughter just turned 12.

3️⃣ I am a MAJOR extrovert. I love meeting new people and can have a conversation with anyone, anywhere, anytime!

4️⃣ I am a mental health advocate and very open about my own mental health journey. I take medication for anxiety, depression, and ADHD. I also see a therapist once a week. There is NO SHAME in seeking help for your mental health!

5️⃣ I firmly believe in the healing power of a charcuterie board and a glass of crisp white wine with friends. I love to gather everyone together to share snacks and spill tea!!

6️⃣ Seeing my book hit #1 on Amazon was a core memory!! I poured my heart and soul into writing Blueprint for Inclusion and knowing it’s been so well received is a dream come true! #linkinbio
